The Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has descended heavily on the headmistress of Kukurantumi Presbyterian Primary School, Juliet Oppong, for waiting till the Second Lady visited the school before she made known her inadequacies.
“If you are the head of an educational institution, you should know whether you are running out of educational materials or not,” she told TV3 on Tuesday.
“You don’t have to wait till you have a visitor before you tell the visitor this is what I need,” she added.
The headmistress had requested for boxes of chalk, among other basic educational materials, after Mrs Amissah-Arthur donated five sets of desktop computers to the school.
Government, for several months, has failed to pay the capitation grant to schools to enable authorities run the schools efficiently.

Government, for several months, has failed to pay the capitation grant to schools to enable authorities run the schools efficiently.
The inability to pay the grant to the schools is blamed on Prof Opoku-Agyemang’s inefficiency as Education Minister.
Many institutions, including political parties, have since donated some educational materials to the school in the Eastern Region.
But touching on the issue, the Education Minister said as a headmistress Mrs Oppong should have realised that her materials were running out.
“If you are the headmistress, you are a planner, you are the manager. You have a tally card that tells you these are the materials I have that are running out.”
The district directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has reportedly begun investigations into the incident while the Second Lady has since apologised over the comment.
No Transfer
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has denied media reports that Mrs Oppong was likely to be transferred out of Kukurantumi to, possibly, Suhum.
“We wish to state categorically that GES has not issued any directive to the Regional Directorate of Education to transfer the said Headmistress.
“The Municipal Director of Education has not issued any letter to the Headmistress to that effect. Any other information concerning Mrs Juliet Angelina Oppong’s transfer which is contrary to what we have put out should be considered false,” the statement issued in Accra and signed by Jacob A.M. Kor, Acting Director-General of GES, stated.
